This pendant depicts Lord Buddha sitting in the Bhumisparsha Mudra which means 'touching the earth' or earth witness Mudra with the demon Mara's head underneath him.
In this posture, Siddhartha Gautama, defeated Mara while meditating under the Bodhi tree and became enlightened.
Just as Mara, the demon of illusion, makes is final attempt to scare Buddha out of his final meditation state, Buddha's right hand extends, touching the ground to call earth as a witness of overcoming fears, desires and realizing the ultimate truth.
It is super detailed with beautiful filigree. It contains silver and other mixed metals and is a shiny silvery color.
The beauty of this pendant was really difficult to capture with a camera. It is absolutely amazing looking and is one of my favorites. :)
It is 2.6cm wide and 3.6cm tall. It comes on a cool, handmade, adjustable string necklace.
