This vintage brass pendant depicts Phra Rahu. The Phra Rahu eats the sun or moon and causes either a solar, or lunar eclipse.
In Thailand, when there is an eclipse, the followers of Phra Rahu Om Jan bang pots and pans together, making a lot of noise which is said he doesn’t like, making him go away and the sun/moon returns.
In Buddhism and Hinduism it takes the form of Rahu and Ketu, who swallow the sun or moon respectively.
The pendant is looped on a braided faux leather necklace and can be worn around the neck.
The necklace is 47cm or 18.5 inches long.
This amulet has a great design. It looks very mysterious and interesting. The whole pendant is designed beautifully.
